Between 1891 and 1911 Luca Beltrami, a famous architect, reconstructed the castle back to its original model. He rebuilt also the Filarete Tower, which, containing 250.000 pounds of gunpowder, exploded for a lightning in 1521.

In the Sforza Castle now you can admire important collections in the Museum of Ancient art, in the Picture Gallery, in the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Trivulziana Library and the "Achille Bertarelli" Print Collection.

The castle is open every day, (except on 25/12, 1/1, 1/5 and 15/8) from 9.00 to 17.30, free admittance. For additional call +39 02 88463700.

You can reach it easily by underground, using the MM1 (red line) and exit at Cadorna or Cairoli stops, or MM2 (green line) and exit at Cadorna or Lanza stops.

The castle museums are closed on monday. The single ticket costs 3 euro, for children 1.50 euro, except on friday from 14.00 to17.30 - tuesday, wednesday, saturday and sunday from 16.30 to 17.30 (entrance until 17.00) when you can enter free.
