Lake Como

Lake Como is the third lake of Italy for size, after the lake Garda and Maggiore.
It has a particular shape of a Y reversed with 3 parts: Colico at north, Lecco at south-east and Como at south-west.
The surface is about 145.9 km2 and the maximun depth is 410 meters.

How to reach the lake

Air
If you come to Italy by air you can land to Malpensa airport and then take the A8 and A9 highways directed to Como (about 60 km), there are also bus companies with daily service.
If you want to go to Lecco you can take the A8 highway to Milano, then the A4 until the Cinisello Balsamo exit and finally the SS36 road to Lecco (about 95 Km). You can take the bus for many important towns of the lake.

Train
Como is directly linked to the railway Milano - Como - Chiasso

Car
The A9 highway Lainate - Como - Chiasso has the exit for the lake.
To Lecco you have the SS36 road from Milano - Monza.
However the suggestion is to use the public resources (train, bus and boat) to visit the lake due to the traffic and the parking desease.
